VANESSA ANDRADE

Last Day of Innocence

This free standing light sculpture projects the “TONE” of a red light, red light is usually used to trigger certain behaviors like “stop”, it’s also used to trigger alertness. The red bulbs in the confined space of this gum ball machine convey an awareness of sexuality that is acquired when a young child starts puberty. Red represents both alertness and sexuality, and the gum ball machine represents youth.
