Freedom Righters is the interactive brain child of local Indianapolis poets’ januarie York, Theon Lee, and Phoenix Phlow who bring awareness to social justice issues through spoken word. They challenge the public to define what freedom means to them while providing food for thought through street performance poetry. Januarie York is a freelance writer, published author & poet who resides in Indianapolis. Theon Lee is an Indianapolis spoken word artist, whose recent focus has become artistic complacency in black communities. Phoenix Phlow (Carla Sallee) is a poet, playwright, facilitator, community activist whose purpose is breaking cycles of oppressions.
