The theatre troupe models the reality and unreality of urban environments by exploring clichés and stereotypical perceptions of St. Petersburg. Entering the courtyard, viewers first meet typical local characters and listen to their actual stories, eventually becoming immersed in the phantasmagoria of the city. The combination of various textures, sounds, and images stimulate the formulation of a model of St. Petersburg in the spectator’s imagination. The Semiotic Model of St. Petersburg combines contemporary, documentary and physical theatre techniques with live music.
International Theatre Centre “Light People” was created as a social project to develop and modernize the modern theater. It is the largest school of acting in St. Petersburg, with a large selection of different educational programs (intensives, workshops, semi-annual conferences, residencies). Students choose from an extensive list of supporting disciplines such as dance, language, acrobatics, singing, or movement. “Light People” also functions as a research center for international and local projects in the field of arts management, organizing lectures, seminars, and meetings.
