DANIEL SHIEH

Corner Mirror

This installation places  a large, brightly colored mirror at a sidewalk corner. The mirror functions similarly to traffic safety mirrors, but is fixed at eye level to allow nonverbal interaction (eye contact, hand gestures) between pedestrian walking in opposite directions from a distance. The playful color aims to soften the tension of eye contact between strangers, and connect them on a simple yet emotional level.
